“The Palace is just a building, but with your children it becomes a living Theater.”

The Lorain Palace Youth Theater is proud to announce it’s 2020 show: “School of Rock”

Dear Prospective Youth Theater Participant and Parents:

Summertime means a lot of things to a lot of people but here at the Lorain Palace Theater summer means it is time for our beloved summer Palace Youth Theater program.

As usual, all of our students will all get a comprehensive theater education experience in our beautiful, historic theater as well as be a part of our full stage production!

The 2019 Palace Youth Theater activities begin with a Parents / Student Meeting on Saturday, June 6th, 2020 at 10:00 AM to discuss the program, meet the staff, and learn how parental involvement is the key to the success of the program. Auditions will be held the first two days of camp.   Students, ages 8 through 18, begin daily classes on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020. A six-week blending of Theater education, technology (NO child will be on tech crew. We will have tech classes only!), and self-esteem building experiences, concluded by the presentation of a full-scale, family oriented musical Theater production on Friday, July 17, Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, 2020.   The Palace Youth Theater Program offers a fun and rewarding experience for all.

The daily schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with class starting PROMPTLY at 9:00 am and ending at 2:30 pm. Children should arrive no later than 8:45 am to maximize learning time.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday – Participants should bring a lunch on these days. We do sell large water bottles for $1.00 if they do not bring their own beverage. We do have “Pizza Friday” where the students will be able to purchase pizza, pop and candy at a reduced rate. An order form is sent home each Monday for pizza and is to be returned by Wednesday.

Tuition: our “Early Bird” special is $275.00 per student and begins September 1, 2020 and must paid in full by April 1, 2020 after which tuition is $350 per student and must be paid in full by June 17, 2020 – NO EXCEPTIONS!  Tuition includes a DVD of the show, T-Shirt, and a cast party the last night of the performance. (Not to mention the six weeks of memories your child will walk away with and the opportunity to say “I played the Palace on Broadway!”) Expenses and budgeting are based on the number of students enrolled in the program and therefore we cannot offer refunds for any reason. The program this year will be limited to only 75 participants, who must be age 8 – 18 on or before June 9, 2020.

The registration process begins with this letter and the registration form. We also require a Student Waiver Form, t-shirt size and a 2×3 head shot picture of your child. We DO NOT need any bigger size picture. Please complete these forms and return them before June 9, 2020 at 3:00 PM. Please make all checks payable to: Lorain Palace Theater. Visa and MasterCard are also accepted.

NOTE: The Palace Theater box office is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for your convenience of registering.

For the safety of all students and staff, it is imperative that students follow our dress code guidelines. Please take notice of what your child is wearing before dropping him or her off at the Palace. All students and staff must wear shoes that enclose the entire foot; no sandals, flip flops, Crocs or clogs. Tennis/athletic shoes are preferred when not in costume. Only walking shorts and long pants are allowed; NO short shorts and skirts. They leave more space for injury. NO JEANS.  Appropriate undergarments and long/short sleeve, traditional full-body shirts must be worn at all times; NO cap sleeves, halters, spaghetti straps, or exposed midriffs due to dancing, stretching, or bending. We don’t want students to become embarrassed or worried about personal hygiene concerns. We may ask for a paint/cleaning shirt that can get highly dirty.

Thank you for your interest in the Palace Youth Theater this year. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
