PALACE YOUTH THEATRE 2023
“The Palace is just a building, but with your children, it becomes a living theatre.”
Dear Prospective Youth Theatre Participants and Parents:
Summertime means a lot of things to a lot of people but here at the Lorain Palace Theatre, summer means it is time for our beloved summer Palace Youth Theatre program.
As usual, all of our students will get a comprehensive theater education experience in our beautiful, historic theater as well as be a part of our full-stage production!
The 2023 Palace Youth Theatre activities begin with a Mandatory Parents / Guardian Meeting on Saturday, June 17th at 1:00 PM to discuss the program, meet the staff, and learn how parental involvement is the key to the success of the program. Auditions will be held during the first two days of camp. Students, ages 8 through 18, begin daily classes on Tuesday, June 20th at 9:00 AM. A six-week blending of Theatre education, technology (NO child will be on tech crew. We will have tech classes only!), and self-esteem-building experiences, concluded by the presentation of a full-scale, family-oriented musical Theatre production on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Palace Youth Theatre Program offers a fun and rewarding experience for all.
The daily schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with class starting PROMPTLY at 9:00 am and ending at 2:00 pm. Children should arrive no later than 8:45 am to maximize learning time.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday – Participants should bring a lunch on these days. We do sell large water bottles for $2.00 if they do not bring their own beverage. We do have “Pizza Friday” where the students will be able to purchase pizza, pop, and candy at a reduced rate. An order form is sent home each Monday for pizza and is to be returned by Wednesday.
MONDAY – WE DO NOT HAVE CLASSES.
Tuition: our “Early Bird” special is $325.00 per student and begins January 1, 2023, and must be paid in full by April 1, 2023 after which tuition is $375 per student and must be paid in full by June 20, 2023 – NO EXCEPTIONS! Tuition includes a DVD of the show, a T-Shirt, and a cast party the last night of the performance. (Not to mention the six weeks of memories your child will walk away with and the opportunity to say “I played the Palace on Broadway!”) Expenses and budgeting are based on the number of students enrolled in the program and therefore we cannot offer refunds for any reason. The program this year will be limited to only 75 participants, who must be age 8 – 18 on or before June 20, 2023.
The registration process begins with this letter and the registration form. We also require a Student Waiver Form, t-shirt size, and a 2×3 head shot picture of your child. We DO NOT need any bigger-size picture. Please complete these forms and return them before June 9, 2023, at 3:00 PM. Please make all checks payable to: Lorain Palace Theatre. Cash and Credit are also accepted.
NOTE: The Palace Theatre box office is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for your convenience of registering.
As enrollment is limited, we suggest you complete and submit your application, FULL payment, forms, and a picture as soon as possible. We will honor requests for registration on a first-come, first-served basis for any openings available after January 1, 2023. Note: If enrollment is full before your registration materials and payment are received, your money will be refunded.

For the safety of all students and staff, it is imperative that students follow our dress code guidelines. Please take notice of what your child is wearing before dropping him or her off at the Palace. All students and staff must wear shoes that enclose the entire foot; no sandals, flip flops, Crocs, or clogs. Tennis shoes are preferred when not in costume. Only walking shorts and long pants are allowed; NO short shorts and skirts. They leave more space for injury. NO JEANS. Appropriate undergarments and long/short sleeve, traditional full-body shirts must be worn at all times; NO cap sleeves, halters, spaghetti straps, or exposed midriffs due to dancing, stretching and bending. We don’t want students to become embarrassed or worried about personal hygiene concerns. We may ask for a paint/cleaning shirt that can get highly dirty.
